Ash-Shuara [The poets ]
|
|
|
| | | Ta-seen-meem
| | Ta, Sin, Mim.
|
| | | Tilka ayatu alkitabi almubeeni
| | These are verses of the Book that makes (things) clear.
|
| | | LaAAallaka bakhiAAun nafsaka alla yakoonoo mu/mineena
| | It may be thou frettest thy soul with grief, that they do not become Believers.
|
| | | In nasha/ nunazzil AAalayhim mina alssama-i ayatan fathallat aAAnaquhum laha khadiAAeena
| | If (such) were Our Will, We could send down to them from the sky a Sign, to which they would bend their necks in humility.
|
| | | Wama ya/teehim min thikrin mina alrrahmani muhdathin illa kanoo AAanhu muAArideena
| | But there comes not to them a newly-revealed Message from (Allah) Most Gracious, but they turn away therefrom.
|
| | | Faqad kaththaboo fasaya/teehim anbao ma kanoo bihi yastahzi-oona
| | They have indeed rejected (the Message): so they will know soon (enough) the truth of what they mocked at!
|
| | | Awa lam yaraw ila al-ardi kam anbatna feeha min kulli zawjin kareemin
| | Do they not look at the earth,- how many noble things of all kinds We have produced therein?
|
| | | Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mu/mineena
| | Verily, in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.
|
| | | Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu
| | And verily, thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.
|
| | | Wa-ith nada rabbuka moosa ani i/ti alqawma alththalimeena
| | Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,-
|
| | | Qawma firAAawna ala yattaqoona
| | "The people of the Pharaoh: will they not fear Allah?"
|
| | | Qala rabbi innee akhafu an yukaththibooni
| | He said: "O my Lord! I do fear that they will charge me with falsehood:
|
| | | Wayadeequ sadree wala yantaliqu lisanee faarsil ila haroona
| | "My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron.
|
| | | Walahum AAalayya thanbun faakhafu an yaqtulooni
| | "And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me."
|
| | | Qala kalla faithhaba bi-ayatina inna maAAakum mustamiAAoona
| | Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call).
|
| | | Fa/tiya firAAawna faqoola inna rasoolu rabbi alAAalameena
| | "So go forth, both of you, to Pharaoh, and say: 'We have been sent by the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds;
|
| | | An arsil maAAana banee isra-eela
| | "'Send thou with us the Children of Israel.'"
|
| | | Qala alam nurabbika feena waleedan walabithta feena min AAumurika sineena
| | (Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life?
|
| | | WafaAAalta faAAlataka allatee faAAalta waanta mina alkafireena
| | "And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!"
|
| | | Qala faAAaltuha ithan waana mina alddalleena
| | Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error.
|
| | | Fafarartu minkum lamma khiftukum fawahaba lee rabbee hukman wajaAAalanee mina almursaleena
| | "So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one of the messengers.
|
| | | Watilka niAAmatun tamunnuha AAalayya an AAabbadta banee isra-eela
| | "And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!"
|
| | | Qala firAAawnu wama rabbu alAAalameena
| | Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?"
|
| | | Qala rabbu alssamawati waal-ardi wama baynahuma in kuntum mooqineena
| | (Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure."
|
| | | Qala liman hawlahu ala tastamiAAoona
| | (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?"
|
| | | Qala rabbukum warabbu aba-ikumu al-awwaleena
| | (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!"
|
| | | Qala inna rasoolakumu allathee orsila ilaykum lamajnoonun
| | (Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!"
|
| | | Qala rabbu almashriqi waalmaghribi wama baynahuma in kuntum taAAqiloona
| | (Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!"
|
| | | Qala la-ini ittakhathta ilahan ghayree laajAAalannaka mina almasjooneena
| | (Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!"
|
| | | Qala awa law ji/tuka bishay-in mubeenin
| | (Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?"
|
| | | Qala fa/ti bihi in kunta mina alssadiqeena
| | (Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!"
|
| | | Faalqa AAasahu fa-itha hiya thuAAbanun mubeenun
| | So (Moses) threw his rod, and behold, it was a serpent, plain (for all to see)!
|
| | | WanazaAAa yadahu fa-itha hiya baydao lilnnathireena
| | And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders!
|
| | | Qala lilmala-i hawlahu inna hatha lasahirun AAaleemun
| | (Pharaoh) said to the Chiefs around him: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed:
|
| | | Yureedu an yukhrijakum min ardikum bisihrihi famatha ta/muroona
| | "His plan is to get you out of your land by his sorcery; then what is it ye counsel?"
|
| | | Qaloo arjih waakhahu waibAAath fee almada-ini hashireena
| | They said: "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while), and dispatch to the Cities heralds to collect-
|
| | | Ya/tooka bikulli sahharin AAaleemin
| | "And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well-versed."
|
| | | FajumiAAa alssaharatu limeeqati yawmin maAAloomin
| | So the sorcerers were got together for the appointment of a day well-known,
|
| | | Waqeela lilnnasi hal antum mujtamiAAoona
| | And the people were told: "Are ye (now) assembled?-
|
| | | LaAAallana nattabiAAu alssaharata in kanoo humu alghalibeena
| | "That we may follow the sorcerers (in religion) if they win?"
|
| | | Falamma jaa alssaharatu qaloo lifirAAawna a-inna lana laajran in kunna nahnu alghalibeena
| | So when the sorcerers arrived, they said to Pharaoh: "Of course - shall we have a (suitable) reward if we win?
|
| | | Qala naAAam wa-innakum ithan lamina almuqarrabeena
| | He said: "Yea, (and more),- for ye shall in that case be (raised to posts) nearest (to my person)."
|
| | | Qala lahum moosa alqoo ma antum mulqoona
| | Moses said to them: "Throw ye - that which ye are about to throw!"
|
| | | Faalqaw hibalahum waAAisiyyahum waqaloo biAAizzati firAAawna inna lanahnu alghaliboona
| | So they threw their ropes and their rods, and said: "By the might of Pharaoh, it is we who will certainly win!"
|
| | | Faalqa moosa AAasahu fa-itha hiya talqafu ma ya/fikoona
| | Then Moses threw his rod, when, behold, it straightway swallows up all the falsehoods which they fake!
|
| | | Faolqiya alssaharatu sajideena
| | Then did the sorcerers fall down, prostrate in adoration,
|
| | | Qaloo amanna birabbi alAAalameena
| | Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,
|
| | | Rabbi moosa waharoona
| | "The Lord of Moses and Aaron."
|
| | | Qala amantum lahu qabla an athana lakum innahu lakabeerukumu allathee AAallamakumu alssihra falasawfa taAAlamoona laoqattiAAanna aydiyakum waarjulakum min khilafin walaosallibannakum ajmaAAeena
| | Said (Pharaoh): "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? surely he is your leader, who has taught you sorcery! but soon shall ye know! Be sure I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will cause you all to die on the cross!"
|
| | | Qaloo la dayra inna ila rabbina munqaliboona
| | They said: "No matter! for us, we shall but return to our Lord!
|
| | | Inna natmaAAu an yaghfira lana rabbuna khatayana an kunna awwala almu/mineena
| | "Only, our desire is that our Lord will forgive us our faults, that we may become foremost among the believers!"
|
| | | Waawhayna ila moosa an asri biAAibadee innakum muttabaAAoona
| | By inspiration we told Moses: "Travel by night with my servants; for surely ye shall be pursued."
|
| | | Faarsala firAAawnu fee almada-ini hashireena
| | Then Pharaoh sent heralds to (all) the Cities,
|
| | | Inna haola-i lashirthimatun qaleeloona
| | (Saying): "These (Israelites) are but a small band,
|
| | | Wa-innahum lana lagha-ithoona
| | "And they are raging furiously against us;
|
| | | Wa-inna lajameeAAun hathiroona
| | "But we are a multitude amply fore-warned."
|
| | | Faakhrajnahum min jannatin waAAuyoonin
| | So We expelled them from gardens, springs,
|
| | | Wakunoozin wamaqamin kareemin
| | Treasures, and every kind of honourable position;
|
| | | Kathalika waawrathnaha banee isra-eela
| | Thus it was, but We made the Children of Israel inheritors of such things.
|
| | | FaatbaAAoohum mushriqeena
| | So they pursued them at sunrise.
|
| | | Falamma taraa aljamAAani qala as-habu moosa inna lamudrakoona
| | And when the two bodies saw each other, the people of Moses said: "We are sure to be overtaken."
|
| | | Qala kalla inna maAAiya rabbee sayahdeeni
| | (Moses) said: "By no means! my Lord is with me! Soon will He guide me!"
|
| | | Faawhayna ila moosa ani idrib biAAasaka albahra fainfalaqa fakana kullu firqin kaalttawdi alAAatheemi
| | Then We told Moses by inspiration: "Strike the sea with thy rod." So it divided, and each separate part became like the huge, firm mass of a mountain.
|
| | | Waazlafna thamma al-akhareena
| | And We made the other party approach thither.
|
| | | Waanjayna moosa waman maAAahu ajmaAAeena
| | We delivered Moses and all who were with him;
|
| | | Thumma aghraqna al-akhareena
| | But We drowned the others.
|
| | | Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mu/mineena
| | Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.
|
| | | Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu
| | And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.
|
| | | Waotlu AAalayhim nabaa ibraheema
| | And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story.
|
| | | Ith qala li-abeehi waqawmihi ma taAAbudoona
| | Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?"
|
| | | Qaloo naAAbudu asnaman fanathallu laha AAakifeena
| | They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them."
|
| | | Qala hal yasmaAAoonakum ith tadAAoona
| | He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?"
|
| | | Aw yanfaAAoonakum aw yadurroona
| | "Or do you good or harm?"
|
| | | Qaloo bal wajadna abaana kathalika yafAAaloona
| | They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)."
|
| | | Qala afaraaytum ma kuntum taAAbudoona
| | He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,-
|
| | | Antum waabaokumu al-aqdamoona
| | "Ye and your fathers before you?-
|
| | | Fa-innahum AAaduwwun lee illa rabba alAAalameena
| | "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds;
|
| | | Allathee khalaqanee fahuwa yahdeeni
| | "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me;
|
| | | Waallathee huwa yutAAimunee wayasqeeni
| | "Who gives me food and drink,
|
| | | Wa-itha maridtu fahuwa yashfeeni
| | "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me;
|
| | | Waallathee yumeetunee thumma yuhyeeni
| | "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again);
|
| | | Waallathee atmaAAu an yaghfira lee khatee-atee yawma alddeeni
| | "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment.
|
| | | Rabbi hab lee hukman waalhiqnee bialssaliheena
| | "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous;
|

| | | Wama as-alukum AAalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameena
| | "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds.
|
| | | Awfoo alkayla wala takoonoo mina almukhsireena
| | "Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud).
|
| | | Wazinoo bialqistasi almustaqeemi
| | "And weigh with scales true and upright.
|
| | | Wala tabkhasoo alnnasa ashyaahum wala taAAthaw fee al-ardi mufsideena
| | "And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief.
|
| | | Waittaqoo allathee khalaqakum waaljibillata al-awwaleena
| | "And fear Him Who created you and (who created) the generations before (you)"
|
| | | Qaloo innama anta mina almusahhareena
| | They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched!
|
| | | Wama anta illa basharun mithluna wa-in nathunnuka lamina alkathibeena
| | "Thou art no more than a mortal like us, and indeed we think thou art a liar!
|
| | | Faasqit AAalayna kisafan mina alssama-i in kunta mina alssadiqeena
| | "Now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful!"
|
| | | Qala rabbee aAAlamu bima taAAmaloona
| | He said: "My Lord knows best what ye do."
|
| | | Fakaththaboohu faakhathahum AAathabu yawmi alththullati innahu kana AAathaba yawmin AAatheemin
| | But they rejected him. Then the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom seized them, and that was the Penalty of a Great Day.
|
| | | Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mu/mineena
| | Verily in that is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.
|
| | | Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu
| | And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.
|
| | | Wa-innahu latanzeelu rabbi alAAalameena
| | Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds:
|
| | | Nazala bihi alrroohu al-ameenu
| | With it came down the spirit of Faith and Truth-
|
| | | AAala qalbika litakoona mina almunthireena
| | To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish.
|
| | | Bilisanin AAarabiyyin mubeenin
| | In the perspicuous Arabic tongue.
|
| | | Wa-innahu lafee zuburi al-awwaleena
| | Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples.
|
| | | Awa lam yakun lahum ayatan an yaAAlamahu AAulamao banee isra-eela
| | Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)?
|
| | | Walaw nazzalnahu AAala baAAdi al-aAAjameena
| | Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs,
|
| | | Faqaraahu AAalayhim ma kanoo bihi mu/mineena
| | And had he recited it to them, they would not have believed in it.
|
| | | Kathalika salaknahu fee quloobi almujrimeena
| | Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the sinners.
|
| | | La yu/minoona bihi hatta yarawoo alAAathaba al-aleema
| | They will not believe in it until they see the grievous Penalty;
|
| | | Faya/tiyahum baghtatan wahum la yashAAuroona
| | But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not;
|
| | | Fayaqooloo hal nahnu muntharoona
| | Then they will say: "Shall we be respited?"
|
| | | AfabiAAathabina yastaAAjiloona
| | Do they then ask for Our Penalty to be hastened on?
|
| | | Afaraayta in mattaAAnahum sineena
| | Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years,
|
| | | Thumma jaahum ma kanoo yooAAadoona
| | Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised!
|
| | | Ma aghna AAanhum ma kanoo yumattaAAoona
| | It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)!
|
| | | Wama ahlakna min qaryatin illa laha munthiroona
| | Never did We destroy a population, but had its warners -
|
| | | Thikra wama kunna thalimeena
| | By way of reminder; and We never are unjust.
|
| | | Wama tanazzalat bihi alshshayateenu
| | No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation):
|
| | | Wama yanbaghee lahum wama yastateeAAoona
| | It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it).
|
| | | Innahum AAani alssamAAi lamaAAzooloona
| | Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it.
|
| | | Fala tadAAu maAAa Allahi ilahan akhara fatakoona mina almuAAaththabeena
| | So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty.
|
| | | Waanthir AAasheerataka al-aqrabeena
| | And admonish thy nearest kinsmen,
|
| | | Waikhfid janahaka limani ittabaAAaka mina almu/mineena
| | And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee.
|
| | | Fa-in AAasawka faqul innee baree-on mimma taAAmaloona
| | Then if they disobey thee, say: "I am free (of responsibility) for what ye do!"
|
| | | Watawakkal AAala alAAazeezi alrraheemi
| | And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,-
|
| | | Allathee yaraka heena taqoomu
| | Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer),
|
| | | Wataqallubaka fee alssajideena
| | And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves,
|
| | | Innahu huwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu
| | For it is He Who heareth and knoweth all things.
|
| | | Hal onabbi-okum AAala man tanazzalu alshshayateenu
| | Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend?
|
| | | Tanazzalu AAala kulli affakin atheemin
| | They descend on every lying, wicked person,
|
| | | Yulqoona alssamAAa waaktharuhum kathiboona
| | (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars.
|
| | | WaalshshuAAarao yattabiAAuhumu alghawoona
| | And the Poets,- It is those straying in Evil, who follow them:
|
| | | Alam tara annahum fee kulli wadin yaheemoona
| | Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?-
|
| | | Waannahum yaqooloona ma la yafAAaloona
| | And that they say what they practise not?-
|
| | | Illa allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati wathakaroo Allaha katheeran waintasaroo min baAAdi ma thulimoo wasayaAAlamu allatheena thalamoo ayya munqalabin yanqaliboona
| | Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves only after they are unjustly attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take!
